Great Symphonic Music with Maxim Vengerov, the Principal Conductor of the Gstaad Festival Orchestra

A collaboration with conductor Maxim Vengerov for the years 2010 and 2011 is in preparation.

Maxim Vengerov will focus on programmes from the Romantic repertoire with emphasis on Russian music. In August 2010 Vengerov will perform a Rimsky-Tchaikovsky-Mussorgsky programme that will be complemented by the world premiere of a “symphonic meditation” by Daniel Schnyder and that will be given special brilliance with star soloist Fazil Say. The performance of a large-scale Shostakovitch symphony is in the planning.

Maxim Vengerov has great expectations for the concept behind the Gstaad Festival Orchestra; he is willing to dedicate great energy to the development of this ensemble and to grow and build a profile together with the orchestra. Maestro Vengerov has reached a notable point in his career and is predestined to climb to new musical heights with this newly formed ensemble.
